Answer the following questions and submit COMPLETE answers to your instructor via email. Be sure to list what academic/scholarly resources you used to answer these questions. If using a textbook, be sure to put page numbers. Use examples from the case study to support your answers. Be prepared to discuss your answers in detail, relating them back to the End of Life scenario.

 

Part I: After reviewing the video, answer the following questions.  Please type complete answers for these questions. Be prepared to discuss your answers and rationales during the Zoom post-conference.

 

  1. What does DNR indicate?DNR is a medical directive chosen by a patient while he or she is of sound mind. It meansDO Not Resuscitate.if the person is in the process of dying, the doctors and nurses do nothing to try and save that person’s life.

  1. What is the difference between DNR and “care and comfort” orders?

 

  1. During the scenario the nurse suctioned Mrs. Marshall and elevated the head of the bed even when the daughter said her mom was in “so much pain.” Were these interventions appropriate? Explain why or why not.Nurse elevating the head of bed and suctioning Mrs.  Marshall was appropriate since she was trying to provide comfort, but the priority intervention for Mrs.  Marshall is pain management.
