- The case shows scenarios where Le Moulin Blanc faced both an employee shortage and an employee surplus. Did they handle both scenarios effectively? Why? Explain any two staffing alternatives they could have used for both the surplus and the shortage. (3)
Marking criteria: Explanation of handling both scenarios: 1 mark; Staffing alternative: 0.5mark/alternative
- Identify and explain any four problems that Le Moulin Blanc could potentially have avoided by employing a Human Resource Specialist or a Human Resource Manager. (2)

- List four major tasks that this person has to do. (1)

Recruitment and Selection
- The case study mentions that ‘Le Moulin Blanc primarily employed people in their twenties.’ Why do you think the decision to employ young individuals was made? Identify and explain any two reasons that you think Le Moulin Blanc employed young candidates. (2)

- Based on your answers to Question 6 (Job Analysis), what selection methods do you think would be most suited for the position that you chose? Justify the use of any three selection methods. (3)

Training and Development
- Based on your answers to Question 6 (Job Analysis), what kind of training should you provide your employee(s) with?
- Search online for an existing training which is appropriate for the position. Write its title, provide a link to the training, and justify why you think this training would be appropriate. (2)

Performance Management and Appraisal
- Based on your answers to Question 6 (Job Analysis), design a performance appraisal system for the position. In your answer, please refer to the following points:
- Who should do the appraisal, and why? (1)
- What tools for appraising performance should they use, and why? (1)
- Identify the rater errors that are possible in Le Moulin Blanc’s environment. (1)
- Identify any 4 best practices for a fair performance appraisal. (1)
Marking criteria: a: 1 mark/ explained point; b: 0.5 mark for tool selection and 0.5 for justification; c: identification of any two rater errors; d: 0.25/mark for identification only.
