Please respond to the questions below in reference to chapter 12 of the main textbook and two outside sources (journal articles, reliable blogs (i.e. the author is known and has experience in the field), nationwide reliable newspaper articles) you find.
a. Burke (2013) states that Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) lists more than 7,000 quality measures in National Quality Measure Clearinghouse. As a healthcare provider executive, how would you benefit from these measures? How would you decide which measures to use in your balance scorecard? How could data analytics help you choose the most relevant quality measures?
b. Assume that you are a high-level organizational leader at a prominent pharmaceutical company that produces an effective drug to treat diabetes 2. The company holds the patent for the drug and the company has exclusive rights to sell the drug for another 3 years. Although the drug passed the test stages and received FDA approval, your data analytics team revealed that the drug has a significant probability of a side effect which may eventually lead to renal failure among Asian female patients with blood type A. Revealing the information means a drastic loss for you and the company, which will cause billions of dollars in lost revenue and reputation. What would you do? Do you think it is plausible to assume that some companies may be reluctant to reveal the finding? Suggest a policy to solve this problem.
