Dear Student,
(You, and many others, need to rewrite this paper and submit it by Tuesday evening. Please see my important comments in the attached Word file.)
This week we asked you to do the second part of Project 2. Detailed instructions for this assignment were found in the Project 2 section in our online classroom. Just a general reminder: Make sure you always follow the instructions in the course content for all assignments 😉 I recommend making a bulleted list of everything we ask for, and check off each point as you complete each item.
The instructions for this assignment in the course content area included identifying the codes and then locating sources to help you develop your paper, first detailing the three top trends in your industry. HERE IS SOME GENERAL INFORMATION THAT MAY OR MAY NOT APPLY TO YOUR SUBMISSION. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED, MARKED WORD FILE FOR COMMENTS SPECIFICALLY ON YOUR ASSIGNMENT!
The steps were clearly listed in the assignment information, for example including a research question (avoiding questions that can be answered with a simple “Yes” or “No”). The question should be focused enough to discuss in a short paper like this one.
You were asked to use peer-reviewed, academic sources, just not information posted on the web.
The paper should discuss three trends and then one issue within one of the trends that you deem important, based on the current state of the industry, supported by your analysis of facts and a well-reasoned conclusion of what it means to the industry.
The paper was supposed to use APA 7th edition (student version) formatting. The length should be from five to seven double-spaced pages of actual text. It should start with an introductory paragraph and also have the following sections: Findings (top three trends, an important emerging issue), conclusions and references.
I have attached both the rubric and a marked-up word file here in the assignment folder/grade book with SPECIFIC COMMENTS FOR YOUR PAPER. Email me if you are not able to see my comments.
Thanks, and remember to email all questions for me. Also, remember that it is easy to get overwhelmed. Make sure you work through the steps outlined for Project 3 in the information for this project and read my specific advice in a recent announcement. If you do not have or want a LinkedIn profile, or cannot have one due to restrictions at work, you may do the following alternative Project 3 assignment:
Write a 500 word essay (longer is OK) where you answer the following:
How competitive are you in your industry and how best would you present yourself to prospective employers?
This comes in addition to the branding statement, which is the other part of the assignment.
Please make sure you note that you do the alternative assignment in the assignment folder’s message area when you post it.
Thanks,
Mona

1.1: Organize document or presentation clearly in a manner that promotes understanding and meets the requirements of the assignment.
Key Criteria: Material is presented with meticulous attention to logical order, supporting a clearly articulated thesis. Ideas are arranged so that they make consistent, coherent progress from introduction to conclusion; transitions support smooth connections from point to point. Paper addresses all requirements of the assignment, to include error-free APA formatting and compliance with instructions.
Key Criteria: Paper conveys a general sense of order and a thesis that is supported, perhaps unevenly. The writer’s intentions are clear, though there may be awkward phrasing and/or suboptimal organization of ideas in some sections. Paper generally adheres to the required format, aside from some minor errors or a lack of attention to instructions.
Key Criteria: Paper is not organized logically and appropriately for the task. The thesis may be missing, incomplete, or unclear, making it difficult to follow the progress of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Paper is not formatted correctly and does not comply with all project instructions.
1.2: Develop coherent paragraphs or points so that each is internally unified and so that each functions as part of the whole document or presentation.
Key Criteria: Paper achieves internal coherence through consistent and skillful construction of paragraphs with meaningful topic sentences, supported by well-developed sentences of sufficient depth. The arrangement of paragraphs enables ideas to flow seamlessly from one point to the next.
Key Criteria: Paper structure is composed of paragraphs that generally promote clear meaning. Most paragraphs have topic sentences and supply sufficient detail. Ambiguities may exist; clarity, coherence, and depth of support could be better.
Key Criteria: The coherence of the paper is weakened by paragraphs that lack topic sentences or supporting details. The discussion is not ordered to lead the reader to a clear understanding of the writer’s intent.
1.3: Provide sufficient, correctly cited support that substantiates the writer’s ideas.
Key Criteria: Paper demonstrates fluency in selection and use of credible sources to support ideas and findings. Writer skillfully integrates others’ ideas by correctly paraphrasing, quoting, and citing sources. In-text citations and the references list are consistently formatted to APA standards.
Key Criteria: Paper demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to formatting standards. Minor citation errors are present, and paper demonstrates some inconsistency in the writer’s ability incorporate material smoothly and accurately.

Key Criteria: Paper generally tailors ideas in context to the audience, but there are some sections of the paper that contain imprecise terms or language.
Key Criteria: Paper does not tailor communication to the audience. Some language and tone is inappropriate for the nature of the project.
1.5: Use sentence structure appropriate to the task, message and audience.
Key Criteria: Paper expresses ideas clearly and concisely. Sentence structure is varied throughout the paper to ensure smooth flow and engaging narrative. Paper is free of major sentence-level errors such as awkward syntax, run-on sentences, fragments, and comma splices.
Key Criteria: Paper generally expresses ideas clearly. Some sentence patterns are overused or awkward; sentence-level errors, if any, are minor.
Key Criteria: Sentence patterns are unvaried, causing choppiness. For the most part, the writing does not express ideas clearly, and there are multiple sentence-level errors.
1.6 Follow conventions of Standard Written English.
Paper is free of errors in standard usage rules of grammar, word choice, spelling, and punctuation. Paper demonstrates correct tense constructions, noun/pronoun congruence, and accepted use of acronyms.
Paper demonstrates generally good usage of grammar, word choice, and spelling. Paper may exhibit minor errors in tense or noun/pronoun agreement; use of acronyms or excessive/improper capitalization does not reflect professional standards.

Paper indicates that the student has considered and identified relevant factors to inform and direct research.
Key Criteria: Paper provides some explanation of the issue under consideration, but there may be gaps in the details of the problem or issue. The research strategy may be limited by a lack of context or may suggest an inadequate understanding of underlying factors.

Key Criteria: Paper does not discuss alternative viewpoints, or disregards them with little or no reasoned justification. Analysis may be insufficient to support the paper’s conclusion.
2.5 Develop well-reasoned ideas, conclusions or decisions, checking them against relevant criteria and benchmarks
Paper demonstrates compelling conclusions based on thoughtful analysis of fact. Paper includes legal or ethical dimensions of the issue where applicable. Paper is complete in format and content and has few if any formatting errors.
