Use the story attached “Who’s Irish” by Gish Jen and relate it to three sources online.
Find out about the author’s life, the time/
society in which he or she lived, or what literary critics have to say about the work. You could also
explore one or more issues dealt with in that work. Then, I’d like you to apply whatever you found to
an essay that makes a particular point (or, in other words, contains a thesis) of your choosing in
relation to that piece (it should not be just a biography), uses MLA
format, and contains a Works Cited list at the end following that format. The three sources found online should not be someone’s blog posting but, rather, essays
and articles that editors and colleagues have edited and reviewed (peer reviewed articles). Please don’t use Wikipedia because
the material on it can be submitted or changed by anyone at any time.
