CAREER EXPLORATION PART TWO
In part one of this assignment, you identified a dream career, now you will identify the dream job at the dream company.
Write a one to the two-page evaluation of the dream job, addressing the following prompts:
· Introduction
Briefly recap Part One, what is the dream career, and why?
· Paragraph Two – Dream Job, Dream Company
o Identify a company that hires people for the job/career you have selected. Look at the company’s website and/or job search sites such as Monster, com or Indeed.com, to see if they are currently hiring for the position. Discuss whether or not the skill set, characteristics, and education you described above, are included in the company’s job description and requirements.
o What makes this company a good one to work for? Read Section 7.4 in your text and describe any benefits outlined in the text, which are offered by the company you identified.
· Paragraph Three – Reality
o Search the library database for any negative news articles about the company.
o Search the company website for “diversity”. Does the company value diversity and does that make a difference to you? Look at the company’s senior management and board of directors. Is the group as diverse as you would expect given what you found on their web site about diversity?
· Concluding Paragraph:
o Based on your research and self-analysis, in parts one and two of this assignment, Is this profession still of interest? If not, why?
o If it does still interest you, what is one step you can take this year to help prepare yourself for an interview with the company identified above? If this career or company is no longer of interest, what will you do next?
