Part 1: Research Articles
1. Research an article on the impact of COVID 19 on the family. Briefly summarize the article. Which family theory/perspective seems to be most reflected in the article? Explain and justify your response. Document your source using ASA format.
2. Research an article on how one or both parents feel about losing their job (a temporary or permanent loss) to the COVID 19 pandemic. Which family theory/perspetive seems to be most reflected in this article? Document your source.
3. Discuss or explain 1) positive effect(s) and 2) negative effect(s) that you believe COVID 19 has on family life.
Part 2: Explaining COVID 19 to a Child
How do you explain COVID 19 to a 5 year old child? Then, how would you relate it to the following subjects:
1. Why Mommy and Daddy are at home all the time.
2. What is meant by “working from home?” Why your child can’t come in the room with you when you are working? Why your child always has to be more quiet now than before you were home all day?”
3. Why you can’t talk/play with your child anytime while you are home?
4. Why you can’t spend all day (weekday) at the park with your child.
5. Respond when your child asks, “Why are you so sad all the time?” (Note: This question is more relevant if you lost your job as a result of COVID 19.)
6. Why your child’s best friend can no longer sleepover.

1. What is Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy?
2. There may be some question about whether Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy could be exacerbated or lessened by COVID 19, given that more parents are home during the day. What is your opinion on that? Do you think COVID 19 may have an effect on Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy?
