Hello everyone! Part 1 of the written assignment is due tomorrow, and I wanted to go over it with you.

You have been provided with a data set that consists of 30 data points across multiple variables. You will use this data for all three parts of the written assignment. Do not make up your own data or search online for other data. Use the 30 data points that are in the data set.

When you open the data set, on page 2 you will see a column for each variable and the corresponding data point for each person. Page 1 of the data set explains what each variable means. You must choose ‘income’ as one variable. Then you choose 2 expenditure variables (remember that these are variables that represent a cost) and 2 socioeconomic variables, where one is quantitative and one is qualitative. The variables on the data sheet are coded as either expenditure (USD) or socioeconomic (SE). You will just need to be sure that you correctly locate the qualitative SE variable (Hint: there is only one).

Now that you have chosen your variables, you need to plan the measures of central tendency and dispersion that you will use for each. Look up the definitions of these terms if needed. The types of measures that you can select are provided for you in the directions. Remember that for qualitative variables, we cannot use measures of dispersion.

The last step is to choose a graph for each variable. Again, the types of graphs you can select are provided in the instructions. You will need to decide which graph makes the most sense for each variable. For example, a pie chart is a great choice for visually portraying qualitative data, such as marital status; but, it would not make sense to use a pie chart for quantitative data.

Remember that for this part of the assignment you are not computing the measures of central tendency/dispersion or creating the graphs. You will do that in part 2. This week you are only creating the plan.
