All Students Writing Assignment-Fall 2020 Serial Killer Class

In an effort to teach you to improve your writing skills, perform meaningful research and to challenge you to learn beyond the textbook, a research paper will be required for this course. The paper should give you a broad understanding of a specific issue related to the complexity of serial murder.

First, you will choose a specific American serial murder case. (I have chosen Aileen Wuornos and Leonarda Cianciulli)

The paper is expected to be a minimum of 10 pages for in length plus your reference page(s). The title page/acknowledgement page does not count as part of the body if you choose to include. The paper is due November 13th, 2020.

Your purpose in this paper is to provide a qualitative narrative of the serial murderer or murderers you may choose. You must demonstrate your understanding of the material researched as well as material covered in the classroom. Generally, a paper of this nature would include such information:

The killers’ life history (which may include family members, place of residence, schooling, sicknesses, abuse, etc.
The crime (s) that are relevant to the case
Any social, sexual, psychological dysfunctions that may be mentioned.
An explanation of victims (race, age, etc).
The outcome of the case(s)

Guidelines for Written Assignments

· Assignments must be typed using a computer word processor. Thus, typographical errors or hand edited corrections are not acceptable.
· This paper will be written on the serial murderer(s) of your choice. Your reference material should be academically based and or from books. The instructor will NOT accept any online true-crime reference sites as sources. For example, you cannot reference sites such as Court TV, Crime Library, Serial Killer Central, Kari sable, Serial Murder Mayhem, Mayhem, Wikipedia, Facebook or any other crime-related site. Failure to comply with this directive will result in a failing grade for the paper. If you have questions about your resources, ask!!!
· All papers should have a minimum of 5 resources.– The Hickey text is NOT TO BE USED AS A REFERENCE/SOURCE
