The topic must be economics-related

1. Must be at least 600 words, but it must not be too long.

2. Either the MLA or the APA style of citation may be used.

3. The topic must be economics-related; it could be micro or macro in nature.

4. The paper must be typed.

5. Three or four sources is a good number. One source is too few. The (a) textbook is acceptable as a source.

For topics other than those in the following list, the instructor’s approval is required:

The economic rationale for the government stimulus plan of 2009. (Note that you could also discuss why it has or has not succeeded.)
The reason(s) for the large budget deficits and debt of the federal government.
Social Security’s future problems
Explain the impact of minimum wage on the ‘free’ labor market. Use a graph as part of the explanation to show how unemployment is affected as a result of the intervention.
How are the differences between the health care market and most other markets the reason for the high price of health care?
Should the antitrust law officials be concerned about mergers, such as the one between Amazon and Whole Foods, and why?
Discuss the impact of the recent tax reforms on the (1) budget deficit and/or (2) the different socioeconomic classes (rich, middle-class, and poor).
The impact of the pandemic on the US or global economy.

Guide to the Writing Assignment:

You should have a title even if you choose to change it later on.
Keep a record of your sources during the research. Retracing your steps is difficult.
Save a copy of your paper till you receive feedback that it is satisfactory.
If you are giving very basic information, such as the definition of inflation, an in-text citation is not necessary. List the sources in the works cited page.
If you are giving a specific finding on, for example, the reasons for inflation in the 1960s, preferably, give the source as an in-text citation as well as a work cited.
Quote sparingly, and only when meaning is lost by paraphrasing. In order to show your comprehension of the readings, put the information in your own words. Copying word-for-word, does not accomplish that goal. I prefer to see spelling and grammatical errors than to see a flawless piece of writing which is made up of the words of someone else.
Have an outline to help with the organization. The outline could be very basic, and not included with the paper that is turned in.
