Presentation

Iesha James

The first business presentation i just watched was made in 2005 and it was presented by Steve Jobs. He spoke on the transitions of apple and why there was a need for another transition. He started at where the mac started which was with the 68k and transitioned to power pc, and now he is introducing the intel processor. He also spoke of the transition from os9 to os10. He used minimal photos with very little imaging, clear enough to be understandable. He gave a great speech and hit key points. He held the interests of his audience and he let people know why they needed the product. At the end of the presentation the take away was that the new intel processor would allow your computer to move much faster than the power pc. So if you were interested in having speed then Steves presentation would definitely attract you. Some ways a presenter can connect with the audience is by telling a joke that relate to the presentation. People usually appreciate humor. Also telling a story related to your presentation helps as well.

Describe the presentation and why it was effective or ineffective.  I love everything Apple so I chose a YouTube video on Apple and its presentation on the music event where Steve introduced the iPod. I thought it was appealing in the sense that here Steve Jobs is a billionaire discussing his latest technology and the newly released IPod and he is talking to the audience and the internet in a black turtleneck and blue jeans. Completely casual which is not the norm when presenting a presentation. Only he could get away with the way he dressed while presenting to millions of people. I thought I was really effective cause before the presentation Apple was dropping hints of a new product which got viewers to watch via the internet and actual diehard fans to purchase extremely expensive tickets to the event to find out what this next great product was. We all previously would have to use cassette tapes to record music from the radio, which then moved into having to buy a ton of cd’s so for him to revolutionize the way we listen to music by storing it on this IPod that could connect to headphones or play from your car was amazing. It was a game changer which once he presented the idea on what it was and how to use it, it was hard to purchase one as everyone had to have one. What are some ways a presenter can connect with the audience during a presentation? Some ways the presenter can connect with the audience during the presentation would be eye contact make sure they are standing in the right place on the stage and following through with making eye contact with the audience, Another way would be how they speak do they use vocal variety. During certain places of their speech do they get louder when speaking and in other areas do they whisper, dramatic pauses and gestures to keep the audience entertained.
