One-page poster presentation.

Describe how your poster topic will fulfill the SLO “Graduates will Utilize Informatics” requirement in your practice setting. The statement is to be no longer than five sentences. Informatics combines information science, computer science, and cognitive science to manage data (Yoder-Wise, 2019).

Selected examples of topics include but are not limited to:

• Developing a culture of safety with HIT
• Clinical decision support systems
• Computerized physician order entry
• Benefits of HIT
• Barriers of HIT
• Connecting quality improvement and HIT
• Patient engagement in HIT
• Helping patients to access patient portals
• Nurse-Patient communication in telehealth
• Promoting the nurse’s caring presence in HIT
• Patient teaching points about HIT

Procedural Steps to Develop your Poster Presentation:

1. Select your topic from the examples listed or another topic that has been approved by your course facilitator.
2. Develop a one slide poster presentation that you may use in your facility to educate your nursing colleagues and other members of the inter-professional team about your topic.
3. The Title must be at the top of your poster.
4. Student name follows the Title.
5. The poster must have a purpose statement that is to be no longer than five sentences that addresses why the topic is important to nursing practice.
6. The poster must have a statement following the purpose statement that clearly relates the Student Learning(SLO) “Graduates will utilize informatics”will be used as a framework for the poster presentation. Describe how your poster topic will fulfill the SLO “Graduates will Utilize Informatics” requirement in your practice setting. The statement is to be no longer than five sentences. Informatics combines information science, computer science, and cognitive science to manage data (Yoder-Wise, 2019).
7. The poster will present teaching points that are supported by two peer-reviewed references. APA format is required when citing references in the text.
8. A reference list is included on the poster and in APA format.
9. The poster should use appropriate color, images, figures, and font size that are professional in nature. Viewers of the poster presentation should be able to read the information comfortably.
10. Professional programs such as PowerPoint or Word should be used for the presentation.
11. Any portion of the poster that is printed, handwritten, or drawn will receive a grade of “0” on the scholarly portion of the rubric.

Rubric

1. Two (2) references are required to meet. References should be peerreviewed, scholarly, and professional. References should not be older than five years
2. Clearly presents four main teaching points that nurses or patients can use to promote an understanding and application of HIT to the practice setting.
3. Description of how the SLO poster topic fulfills the RN-BSN SLO statement: “Graduates will utilize informatics” in the practice setting.
