Assignment 1 – Project proposal; 25%; 1000 words (+/- 10%); 17^th November 2020 at 6pm.

Organisations generate a lot of HR data but often do not use it to its full potential. In this assignment your task is to develop and demonstrate knowledge of different analytic tests and techniques to propose a project which you will carry out as assessment 2. Different analytic tests are suitable for different purposes, should be applied to different types of data to answer different analytic questions, therefore it is vital that you consider your decisions and plan the project carefully.

Tasks involved in this assignment:

• Examine data sets provided on Turnover to evaluate to what ends the data can be used.
• Identify clear, specific and feasible project question/problem.
• Select a suitable data set to investigate your research question.
• Describe the data-set you selected (using descriptive statistics) to indicate how you will be able to address your project question/problem.
• Identify literature sources (academic and reliable industry/government reports) which will inform your project. In the proposal you are required to briefly summarise relevant to the project insights form the source and comment on its reliability. (Harvard style of referencing)
• Specify which statistical tests you will use on which specific variables. Justify your analytic tool choice.
• Outline which insights and knowledge about the organization will be revealed through your analysis and how/why it is important to the organisation.

In this assignment you need to demonstrate an ability to design an HR analytic project.
