Ethnographic Paper Assignment
This paper should be at least 1500 words long and should draw on guidelines we’ve considered (formally and informally) all semester to develop an integrative writing project for global audiences. This paper should match form and content–speak to the possibilities of integrative writing for global audiences as well as appear in a form that is integrative and framed for global audiences. (Be creative–perhaps a mixed media/multi-genre piece is in order?) Focus your paper on one of the prompts below (or speak to me about developing an idea of your own):
“What potentials exist for global/integrative writing in your scholarly field and how has this been reflected (or not) in your college curricula thus far?”;
“What does the experience of our ELC students at Miami say about the possibility for integrative writing in global contexts?”;
“In what ways does a particular instructor’s or department’s curriculum at Miami or another school you’ve attended invite possibilities (or not) for integrative writing for global contexts?”
Each paper should contain a Methodologies section that explains the ways you’ve gathered information, generated conclusions, and decided upon a manner of presentation.
