Suggested Topics for Mini-Research Paper in Macroeconomics

You are requested to submit the Mini-Research Paper as soft copy in word of PDF formats.

Introduction:

This is a mini research paper whose objective is to expose students to recent economic issues related to course topics and content.

This mini research paper has three main aims:

• It is designed to increase the student’s knowledge of recent economic issues, problems and policies occurring in different countries of the world.
• It serves as a practical tool of the many topics discussed in the course.
• It should encourage and train students on the practice of consulting a wide range of source materials in one subject.

Guidance is given below on the list of topics that may be selected for the research paper. Using a wide range of source information (books, journals, internet websites, newspapers journals, etc), the student should gather relevant information as indicated by the material presented in the course textbook.

All research papers must be typed including the following:

1. Cover page stating clearly the title of the research paper, group member names, course title and code, academic semester, name of instructor and date.
2. Table of contents
3. Numbered pages
4. References.
5. Names of specific group member(s) who performed the different sections of the paper.
6. You must submit soft copy of your research paper in due date. Soft copies can be emailed to dmamlouk@dah.edu.sa or duniamamlouk@hotmail.com

Last Tips:

-There is no specification for the number of pages of the paper. (8-10 pages are suitable)

-There is no specification of the font used in typing. Minimum is Font size = 12, 1.5 spacing

-The paper must be typed with cover page indicating title, course title & Code, name of group members, Date.

-The paper is due to be submitted on Dec 10, 2020 @11:00 pm.

-It is highly required that you should paraphrase and write down your analysis in the paper in your own wording.

General Guidelines:

Before starting any work on this paper, once you choose your country and group members, you are required to send this info by email to course instructor to get approval on selected topic.

You cannot start your work on this research paper before receiving approval from course instructor.

Suggested Outline or sections of the Research Paper

Section (1): Choose a country for your research

You may choose any country for your research from the below list. Suggested countries are: Lebanon, India, Afghanistan, Sudan, Eritrea, Brazil, Mexico, Burundi, France, Greece, Cyprus, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Niger and Liberia)

The country chosen for your mini research paper must be restricted to the above suggested countries listed above only.

Once you finalize your choice, you are required to present the following data in this section:

Background information about the country indicating its: Geographic characteristics & location, demographic characteristics, economic resources and general economic sectors. (2 -3 pages)

Section (2): Indicate the purpose of this research paper and what information it will present to reader. (1 page)

Section (3): Main body of the paper must focus on the following areas: (3-5 pages)

Choose one major economic problem (the chosen major economic problem must be explained in the course topics such as recession, depression, inflation and unemployment, please exclude poverty problem) of this country and research about:

1.  What are the reasons or causes of this major Economic Problem in this country?
2. What are the government policies (specifically fiscal and monetary policies, if any) implemented to solve this economic problem of in this country?

Section (4): Conclusion & Recommendation

This section requires from the group to briefly conclude the effect of this economic problem on the economy and whether the country’s government is doing a good job in solving its economic problem. (1 page)

Section (5): List all references used as research sources in the research paper.

Optional Section: a bonus up to 2 grades will be added to the grade of your research paper if a nice economic video is provided on your country economic situation with your research paper (video must have some relation to info included in mini research paper). You should provide me with the link to the video as last page in your research paper or just download the video on USB/CD and submit it with hard copy of your research paper on submission date.
