Attention deficits and disorders can be congenital, or they can arise from injury or disease. One of the most common is attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). For this assignment, please focus on other types of attention deficits and disorders, and DO NOT discuss ADHD.
Besides ADHD, what other types of disorders and conditions are associated with attention deficits? What are the primary differences between executive attention deficits and spatial attention deficits? What are some of the tests used to diagnose attention deficits? What are some of the ways in which attentional processing can be impaired when someone has executive attention deficits?
What are the typical causes of executive attention deficits … and do they differ from the typical causes of spatial attention deficits? Is the biological basis of each of these more closely related to frontal or parietal cortical processing? And what are general differences between attention deficits associated with frontal cortex dysfunction as opposed to parietal cortex dysfunction?
What is spatial neglect, what sort of brain dysfunction is associated with it, and how is it diagnosed? What is the extinction effect that sometimes occurs with patients with mild spatial neglect? What are some differences between spatial neglect and blindsight?
What, if anything, do attention deficits tell us about how attentional networks operate?
