Final: Part TWO
This is the second part of your final exam. It consists of short answer questions from the lecturesand an essay question. Please remember to do both this and the multiple-choice portion!
- Short Answer Questions
Background: Each lecture this semester had a series of “Key Questions” at the beginning and then again at the end of the lecture. As each lecture concluded, you were told to write at least 4 sentences in response to each question. Please type (or, if already typed, copy and paste) your answers to the questions below. Each question is worth 12 points.
Tip: I am only asking about your lecture comprehension. Please do not incorporate into your answer other material, whether from other courses or from your own research.
- Lecture 1: Question 2. How did ancient literature (Biblical, Greek, and Roman) influence perceptions of the New World?
- Lecture 2: Question 3. What are the politics of the famous hymn “Amazing Grace”?
- Lecture 3: Question 1. How did religious tensions influence the American Revolution?
- Lecture 6. Question 3. Why did people fear Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD)?
III. Essay Question
Directions: Your essay should be at least500 words. You must quote at least once from three of the semester’s four assigned books. Your essay must contain a thesis statement; papers without a thesis statement will be marked off 10 points (one letter grade). This question is worth 40 points.
Prompt: Earlier this semester, we watched a National Geographic video entitled “Revolutions 101.” Given what you now know about revolutions, do you agree or disagree with how that video defined revolution?
Tip #1: Don’t forget that the Armitage volume contains many political documents from around the world!
Tip #2: I am only asking about your overall class comprehension (that is, any assignment, whether read or watched). Please do not incorporate into your answer other material, whether from other courses or from your own research.
