Articles of Interest: Tips and Rubric
This assignment is designed to form connections between this class and your everyday life. During each of the three periods that end with an ‘Articles of Interest’ assignment (due dates posted on syllabus), you will write a one page, typed, single spaced essay on a connection between one of the articles from that period and a piece of media you will identify. Your article should be no longer than 1 page, including your 2 references. The media you choose should come from a credible source, which can include news articles, videos, audio, and images,so long as the source is reputable. However, it must be a source of media and NOT a scientific publication or report. Include a short reference to support the credibility of the source. Your media choice may deepen knowledge on the topic introduced by the class article, may be a similar case in the same or a different field (i.e. politics at sea are similar to a case of politics in social media or other), or may be an abstract connection. The point of the exercise is to show that you are thinking about the topics under discussion, and you are encouraged to be creative.You will need to include several items, which are listed below:
