Many countries around the world are being affected by the disease and require school closures or quarantine. Some schools have switched to hybrid or online learning.The worlds educational leaders have to find new methods of educating students while still social distancing and keeping everyone safe.Quarantining students and using hybrid type classes is our first attempt at a educational substitute.Covid-19 and online school make students lose track of work and creates an educational difference between students with high work ethic and students with a low work ethic.
Many people believe the disease to be a big hoax or just the flu.Many people have died in our country alone not to mention others. However, Mr. Wang provides insight on the international pandemic in the article, “Mitigate the Effects of Home Confinement on Children during the COVID-19 Outbreak.” He states, “The Ministry of Education estimates that more than 220 million children and adolescents are confined to their homes” (Wang).The Chinese government had an alternate education plan set up for situations like this already. The disease has affected 220 million children and teensin china alone, forcing them to keep up with their education from home.Students had to acclimate to their situation quickly and learn how to deal with it.The disease is everywhere, and it affects all of our lives.
A year ago students attended school daily, ate in the cafeteria, and rode the bus. Some states are less active in preventing covid but some still send students to school daily. Currently due to covid, students have the choice to wear a mask or not at school. Some schools are hybrid, meaning class is held two days a week in person and the rest is hosted through online meetings or assignments. As well as specific classes being completely online, usually chosen by the teacher for his/her safety. As well as some foods are removed from cafeterias and in other cases, the cafeterias close down entirely for students and faculty. The world wants students to attend class and take all safety precautions, but also doesn’t keep some of students regular activities open for their participation. Students need the ability to attend their usual café and keep a routine. As said in the entry, “The Impact of COVID-19 on High School Students,” by Mary Kreitz. “Following the routine of getting up at a certain time, going to classes at specific times and coming home at a certain time provides a sense of normalcy in their lives” (Kreitz). During this dangerous time in history they need some form of distraction. Students routine allows them to feel like they are living a normal life, however covid-19 confines students to their houses and online activities.
Due to the home confinement on hundreds of millions of students world wide, the usual school performance rating has risen significantly. According to T. Gonzalez, “there is a significant positive effect of the COVID-19 confinement on students’ performance” (Gonzalez). Students confinement in their own homes, and in a comfortable place they are used to, seems to have helped in students abilities to comprehend the lesson being taught. However, colleges have been advised only to reduced face-to-face classes and the professors themselves decide wether or not it will be online for their own safety and the safety of their students. Still, there are some issues with online school, relating to the work ethics of the students however.
