EXAM:

Explain how a specific trend in popular culture has influenced society.  This can be explained in terms of entertainment, sports, news, advertising, music etc.

This essay must include points from any of the course material.  There must be a clear Introduction/thesis, body paragraphs and a clear conclusion. Three points MUST be evident in your paper

You must use supporting points from at least TWO sources of the course material.   This includes any of the weekly readings, portfolio material and/or videos.  THERE WILL BE NO RESEARCH FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES. YOU MUST USE IN TEXT CITATION FOR COURSE RESOURCES YOU USE

This must be a minimum of 2 pages, double spaced and up to 4 pages. RESOURCES MUST ONLY BE FROM THE COURSE MATERIAL.This may include weekly readings and/or portfolio readings from the semester. You may also reference any videos. Please indicate where you’re using points from the literature by underlining the source in your essay.  For example, In the “History of Film Article” ….

How to prep for this essay:

1. Choose your question-make sure you understand the question asked! Read the question in its entirety.
2. Briefly answer the question-jot down your beliefs, experiences that you may be able to use in your essay (these are notes)
3. Write your thesis
4. Go through the list of topics from the course outline and decide which weeks you feel might have material to support your essay.
5. Go through the material-which articles/readings/videos etc. do you feel will help answer your question you chose. Of the various material, which quotes/facts support your idea
6. WRITE down your research notes: On a rough draft…write down various research you found from step 4 (keep these notes separate) REMEMBER…ALL OF YOUR research MUST BE FROM THE COURSE MATERIALsource using IN TEXT CITATION  APA
7. Complete your research (this means you will have various information ready to use when you start writing your essay).
8. Write your essay-start with Thesis and introduction (here you can be general and then focus more towards your thesis…introduce what your paper will be about)
9. BODY PARAGRAPHS-ensure they all relate to the original question you chose to answer. (Many times, students get distracted and lose focus and forget to answer the question entirely).
10. Once you have your body paragraphs…as you’re writing or after (choice is yours) plug in your research from step 5 that fits with your paragraphs.
11. Once you’ve completed your first draft, go through it and ensure proper grammar/sentence structure.
12. EDIT
13. Submit
