Have you ever experienced gruesome pain at such a young age, afraid that you just wanted to give up? Well, I have, and I’m here to tell you all about what I experienced. After finishing the sixth grade, me and my mother who has been planning on leaving the country left for Egypt on a vacation for about two months to meet some family who lived in Cairo. Our flight was set to take off at 8 in the morning and it is my summer after a long year of school which bothered me a lot. Waking up and getting ready took a lot of work and a lot of screaming from my mother. Finally, after saying our farewell to my family, me and my mother headed to the airport. This was my first time to ever step foot in an airport which was a very exciting experience, but it had its flaws. The security took forever because someone was found carrying a knife in their luggage which held the line. Another thing that I hated was the walk while carrying your luggage which was a workout. Finally, we boarded the plane and were on our way to Egypt.
Five minutes into the plane I already hate it. My mom who has been on a plane a lot warned me about the loud noise while liftoff and the landing, but I ignored her which I deeply regretted. My ears felt so much pain it felt as if they were about to burst open, but they didn’t thank my mother who handed me earplugs. Other than the loud noise, it was an overall great experience. Watched a lot of movies, the plane’s food was pretty decent, and I made a friend on the plane who was about my age. We landed in Paris where we would board our second flight which would take us straight to our destination. The airport in Paris was amazing and huge. I was disappointed at the fact that we couldn’t leave the airport, or else we would miss our flight. The good thing about staying at the airport was that I got to meet one of my favorite Quran reciters as a kid which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The best thing at the airport was the food. I ate the same sandwich at least four times. After a long four hours, we boarded our plane and went to Egypt.
me and my mother arrived in Egypt around 7 pm US time and we had our cousin pick us up from the airport. The first thing that made me fall in love with Cairo was the weather. The breeze was amazing, it wasn’t cold or hot it was just perfect. Since me and my mother were both pretty worn out from the flight we slept right after we got to our rooms. I woke up early eager to go sight-seeing and check out the area. We ate breakfast at a pretty neat restaurant and the food there was extraordinary. We then went to go to the sea and rode a yacht, I also went dirt bike riding which was the best thing of the whole trip. Me and my cousin used to sneak off in the middle of the night to play basketball outside with a bunch of other people. There was so much freedom in Cairo and it was stress-free. One month into the trip I started to get sick out of nowhere, but since it was a small pain, I didn’t pay too much attention to it which would, later on, have a severe consequence.
I was in a lot of pain for a whole week, but it was only about to get worse. My lower stomach area was in a lot of pain, when I pee, I felt as if it was hot water. When I couldn’t bear the pain anymore, my mother decided to take me to the doctor. The hospital that I went to was pretty low funded so they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. My uncle took me and my mom to a hospital which was about an hour away that had more facilities and could help find out what was wrong with me. We went after the hour drive and they checked my blood and urine to find out the problem. The doctor came back and told me that I might have UTI. He said they were commonly found in women which meant that I digested something that had bacteria. I remember drinking out of a dirty water fountain, but I was thirsty at the time. The water was really dirty in some parts of Cairo which was probably the reason why I was infected. The doctor gave us antibiotics to heal and said to rest for about 2-3 weeks. One week later my bladder area was in so much pain that I couldn’t even move. We rushed to the hospital again and the doctor said that it has gotten worse. My mother decided that we go home as soon as possible. Two mornings later, me and my mom went back home and straight to the hospital. I was hospitalized for 4 days till I was feeling better. In all honesty that had to be the most pain I had to endure, and I was able to overcome it because of my family and looking towards the positive.
