1) Identify 3-6 scientific facts related to your topic that are likely to be influential with your target audience. (20 pts)
2) Make note of the source and ensure it is credible
3) Organize them in a logical flow that guides your audience in the direction you want them to think – make reference to a call to action (10 pts)
4) Come up with a strong headline that supports your persuasive message (10 pts)
5) Design visuals to explain the 3-6 of the scientific facts you identified. Data may be presented in text too – make sure you have good balance of “info” and “graphics” (20 pts)
6) Use a style of language and design that will appeal to your target audience (10 pts)
7) Include references citing the source of your data (10 pts)
8) Submit accompanying explainer document that includes: (20 pts)
a. Scientific facts being communicated through infographic
b. Source(s) of data
c. Intended persuasive goal and call to action
d. Explanation of design elements intended to appeal to your audience (colors, icons, illustrations, text features)
You will submit
(a) an infographic graphic
Note: It can be made on Canva, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Word, a web based infographic tool. or anything else that makes sense)
(b). Explainer document
Note: You will not be graded on design, but on how you tailor the information to your audience for your specific science communication goal.
